"One. Two. Three. Four. Five," I counted each punch Haven delivered. "Good job!"

I couldn't help but be proud of her. Hell, it was hard not to be seeing her work so hard at learning to take her power back. She usually paired with Ma for all her sessions, but because Ma couldn't make it, I told her we could reschedule if she weren't comfortable with just me. To my surprise, she stayed. At first, she was tight as hell jumping when I demonstrated what I wanted her to try, but soon I could see the focus and determination to push herself.

It was easy to see what Xavier saw in her. She was strong as hell, but she didn't really know it. I didn't know the entire situation, but I knew her ex deserved to be in the ground if it was up to me.

"Ok, last set, go hard." I put up the hand pads to receive her punches, then counted them out. "Good Job, Haven. That's it for today," I complimented her hard work.

"Ok, thank you, Zayne," she said, and for a minute, she forgot to be nervous and smiled at me.

She walked away to take off the gloves, and I turned to acknowledge the person who had walked in a few minutes before.

Pharaoh was someone I'd grown up with. We enlisted together, and at the end of our enlistment, we decided that we'd find our own path. We opened a private security business, and that took off quickly. Soon we learned that our skill set was more comprehensive than we thought, so we added services like private investigations. I'd cut back on the day-to-day operations when I opened this place, but I still did jobs when necessary.

"Bye, Zayne," Haven stated on her way out the door.

I watched her make her way to her car and pulled my eyes away when she pulled off. Pharaoh hadn't missed a thing because I saw his eyes do the same when I turned back to him.

"How do you know Haven Merrick?" Pharaoh asked in a way that made my body grow tight. If he were asking, he'd known she was here, and he also knew a lot more than me.

I crossed my arms and waited for him to tell me how he knew her and why he was here to talk to me about her. I wasn't falling for the bullshit, so I just waited.

"Mike Hardy and Jacion Moreland called in a favor. They want her looked after but under the radar. I had James tailing her until I read the report and saw that she's staying with your aunt and going to your gym. They're concerned about her and want her looked after until her ex is found. They're married to her sisters, and there was some sort of falling out, and she had pulled away from her family. Even so, they are worried about her and want to know that she's safe while she takes the time to do what she needs to do," he finished.
